Annual State Representative team selections, preparation and participation in Australian Men’s & Mixed Championships. Tell me some more about the Australian Championships: Following 20 years of successful Men’s events, the AAMNA added mixed netball to its annual championships and altered their name to All Aust Men’s & Mixed Netball Assoc. The championships are now played across multiple divisions: · OPEN MEN’S · OPEN MIXED · 23 & UNDER MEN’S · OPEN MEN’S RESERVES · 19 & UNDER MEN’S · 17 & UNDER BOYS · MEN’S MASTERS During the course of these Australian Championships, players are selected for: · Australian Touring Teams · Carnival Teams (All Divisions) · Development Team (Under Age) · Most Valuable Player (All Divisions) How can I go about representing Victoria? Each year in around Sept/Oct, the VMNL conducts trials for positions in its state representative teams. Trials are conducted over a three week period where would-be state players come under the scrutiny of our state team coaches. Players should keep an eye out for information about our trials either by registering their contact details on our data base, or simply keep checking our website for updates. I don’t play but would still like to be involved in a state team? The VMNL is always looking for coaches, managers, sports trainers and umpires to be a part of their programs. These positions play a vital role within our state netball teams. A good way to start would be to become involved with a team at M-LEAGUE, be it coaching organising or even registering as an umpire. How can my club or association get involved with Men’s & Mixed netball? Simply register your interest with any of the VMNL representatives. Your club/association may have junior boys that could enter the Junior Boy’s competition, or your girls may be interested in matching their skills against the boys by playing Mixed. If you don’t have access to male players, the VMNL would be happy to introduce some players to your club. These players could not only represent you in mixed competition, but Men’s as well. What advantages are there for my club or association? · Opportunity to expand your netball program. · Offer variety to your existing members, which could prolong their involvement. · Introduce new members to your club that could turn into key contributors in the area of coaching and administrating. · Improve the play of your female players buy giving them regular competition against the bigger male bodies. · Could help to lure some of your former elite players back to represent your club. If I’m not in a State team, how can I be a part of Men’s & Mixed Netball? The VMNL conducts excellent an Men’s & Mixed netball competition known as M-LEAGUE. M-LEAGUE is played at Banyule Netball Stadium in Macleod late Sunday afternoon/early evening. The competition caters for differing standards of play. The highlight of the competition is the Premier Mixed & Premier Men’s division, which is full of state representative players, as well as the occasional NNL player.
